Born in Gostivar, North Macedonia, Gzime immigrated to Canada at an early age and was raised in the Waterloo Region. She began her public service journey in 1999 as a translator for Kosovar refugees at CFB Borden, which led her to policing. In 2001, she joined the Waterloo Regional Police Service, serving in patrol, investigations, recruiting, and various leadership roles. She now serves as a Superintendent overseeing the Operational Support Division. Gzime holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University.
