Besnik was born in New Westminster, BC, to Kosovar immigrant parents. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University and worked with the Vancouver Police Department as a Special Municipal Constable prior to joining the RCMP in 2015. He began his frontline career in Whistler before transferring to CFSEU-BC in 2020 to focus on organized crime investigations. Promoted to Corporal in 2023, he now serves as a team supervisor.
