Born in Prishtina, Kosova, Besnik immigrated to Canada in 1991 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology from Simon Fraser University. Prior to joining the VPD in 2001, Besnik served with Correctional Service of Canada and United Nations Mission in Kosova. He worked across patrol, organized crime, and specialized investigative units, including CFSEU-BC. Presently, he is a Staff Sergeant overseeing Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
